An Angolan footballer Mateus Galiano da Costa plays as a forward for Nacional. He was born on 19 June 1984 in Luanda.
His professional career started in 2001 at Desportivo Beja. He spent two seasons with the club, making occasional appearances as a starter. In the summer 2003, Mateus was noticed by the scouts from Sporting B. The footballer penned a contract, but became a member of the reserved team. In total, he netted 8 goals in 23 matches.
In the summer 2004, Galiano signed for Casa Pia. The debut season for the new team turned to be very fortunate for the forward, as he featured in 35 matches and netted 14 goals. In the summer 2005, Costa joined Lixa, where he made 10 appearances and scored 3 goals for half a year.
In January 2006, Galiano transferred to Gil Vicente. He performed for the club for one season, making 16 appearances and netting 7 goals. In the summer 2007, the forward was offered to join Boavista, where he was promised to get more playing time. Mateus took the proposal and clinched into the first XI. In total, he appeared 25 times and scored 2 goals. In the summer 2008, Galiano became a player of Nacional.
In 2006, Mateus earned his first call for the Angola national team in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He’s already appeared in more than 30 games for the squad (as of May 2012).
