Matías Ariel Sánchez was born in 1987 in Temperley, Argentina.
Sánchez began his youth playing career at Racing Club and after graduating he joined the first team in 2006. He made his debut in a 0-3 loss to Boca Juniors on March 2006. In 2008 he moved to Estudiantes and was a part of the team winning the 2009 Copa Libertadores.
In 2013 the Argentine moved to the USA and joined an MLS club Columbus Crew. However, he was released in October the same year. His next club was Arsenal de Sarandi, which he joined in 2014.
Matías Sánchez was called up to the Argentine U-20 national team participating in the South American Youth Championship in 2007 and helped the team to win the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
