Mats van Huijgevoort is a defender of Excelsior on loan from Feyenoord. He was born on 16 January 1993 in Tilburg, Netherlands.
Mats’s career took off in local Willem II, where the footballer was noticed by Feyenoord scouts. Van Huijgevoort decided to move to Rotterdam and joined the academy of the new club, where he performed for the junior squad during several seasons. At the beginning of 2011, the defender penned a three-and-a-half year contract with Feyenoord and made his début on 22 January 2012 in the away 2-1 loss to VVV-Venlo.
In 2012, Mats was sent on a season-long loan to Excelsior. Later on he joined Willem II.
The footballer made his first international appearance on 1 September 2011, when Netherlands national U-19 team encountered England and did not manage to open the score in the goalless draw.
