Matteo Contini is a defender for Atalanta. He was born on April 16, 1980 in Gemonio, Italy.
Contini’s professional career started in 1999, when he signed a contract with Livorno. In the 1999/2000 season the young defender played in 15 matches for his first football club. In the summer 2000 Contini moved to SPAL, where he took part in 17 games in the 2000/2001 season.
In 2001 Contini signed a permanent contract with Monza. Once again he played for his new team only for one season, taking part in 25 games. In the summer 2002 Matteo Contini signed a contract with L’Aquila, where he spent a complete season scoring 2 goals in 33 matches.
In 2003 Contini joined Avellino for one season. He took part in 39 matches and scored one goal for this team. In the summer 2004 the footballer moved to Serie A club Parma. For three seasons Contini was the key defender of this club. All in all he kicked 2 goals in 89 matches for three seasons.
In 2007 Matteo Contini joined Napoli, where he spent three seasons. During this period he got into the starting eleven a bit more rarely than it was in Parma, however his role in the defence was very important. For three seasons Contini scored one goal in 75 matches for Napoli.
In January 2010 Matteo was on loan to the Spanish football club Zaragoza for half a year. He played successfully in 15 matches and Zaragoza management decided to sign a permanent contract with him. In the summer 2010 Contini officially joined this Spanish team. He continued to play for it in the 2010/2011 season and took part in 24 games. In the summer 2011 the defender returned to Italy, where he began to play for Siena. In 2013 he switched to Atalanta but was soon loaned to Juve Stabia for the season 2013/2014.
