Matthew Connolly is a defender of Cardiff City. He was born on 24 September 1987 in Barnet, England.
Matthew spent his youth career in the academy of Arsenal, where he got decent football education and developed his skills to a professional level due to performing for various junior squads of the club. In 2006, the footballer penned his first senior contract with ‘The Gunners’, but went on loan to Bournemouth at once. Connolly made five appearances and netted one goal for the team before completing a temporary move to Colchester United, where he fired two goals in 16 fixtures during one season.
In 2008, English side Queens Park Rangers decided to secure the defender’s services on permanent basis and saw him score two goals in 116 matches during four years. In January 2012, Matthew sealed a loan deal with Reading and featured in six games for the club during his spell.
In the summer 2012, the footballer put pen to paper of a contract with Welsh side Cardiff City.
