Matthew Kilgallon is a back of Blackburn Rovers. He was born on 8 January 1984 in York, England.
In 2002 Matthew joined the main team of Leeds United after graduating from the academy of the club. He penned a professional contract and performed for ‘The Whites’ during five years. After several months with the first squad of Leeds, Kilgallon went on a six-month loan to West Ham United, where he featured in three games.
After returning to his parent club, the footballer began to make occasional appearances and scored three goals in 80 matches for Leeds United from 2002 till 2007. In 2007 Matthew transferred to Sheffield United, where he spent two years and a half. That time was a real ‘golden age’ of the back, because he played one of the anchor roles in the defense and proved to be a skilled footballer by netting four goals in 107 games for the club.
At the beginning of 2010, Kilgallon completed a move to Sunderland and sealed a deal with the new team. In the summer the same year, Matthew was sent on a season-long loan to Middlesbrough, where he made only two appearances. In 2011 the footballer finalized a move on a six-month loan to Doncaster Rovers and featured in 12 matches for the temporary team before returning to his parent Sunderland.
In 2013 Kilgallon switched for Blackburn Rovers.
From 2004 till 2005, Kilgallon was capped five times for the England national U-21 squad.
