Matthew Taylor is a midfielder, born on 27 November 1981 in Oxford, England.
In 1999 Matthew’s professional career took off in Luton Town. Despite the footballer’s lack of playing practice at the senior level, the head coach gave him an opportunity to become a regular from the very beginning of Taylor’s début season. The midfielder not only showed encouraging performance, but he also was highly praised for his striking qualities, which helped the club to increase its total goal tally in the league. Matthew made 129 appearances and netted 16 goals for Luton Town during three years.
In 2002 Taylor made a qualitative leap, when he sealed a deal with then Premier League club Portsmouth. During six years, the footballer was a part of the starting squad and amassed 23 goals in 178 matches of the club, reaffirming himself as a great winger and wonderful goalscorer.
In 2008 Matthew ended his ‘Pompey’ spell with Bolton move and officially became a player of the new club after penning a contract. The footballer performed for the team during three years, just like for the first club in his career. Those years were very fruitful for the midfielder, because he managed to retain his status of the secure and skilled winger by firing 23 goals in 123 games for ‘The Wanderers’.
In 2011 Taylor completed a move to London side West Ham United. The footballer made 90 appearances for the club during three seasons. In 2014 he switched for Burnley.
From 2002 till 2003, Matthew was capped three times for the England national U-21 team. In 2007 the midfielder took part in one game of England B.
