Matthias Ostrzolek was born on 5 June 1990 in Bochum. He is a German footballer of Polish origin. Matthias plays as a defender for the German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg.
In 1997, he made a debut for VfL Bochum and came up through all the youth ranks of the club. In 2009, Ostrzolek joined the senior team but initially played two seasons for the reserves. Soon the footballer got into the first team where he played during the whole 2010/11 season, appearing in 33 games.
The contract with VfL Bochum was to keep him at the club until 2013, but in 2012, Matthias Ostrzolek left for Augsburg. The new deal was signed until 2015, and the amount paid was not disclosed. On 12 February 2012, the player made his debut in the match against FC Nürnberg, which ended in a draw. Matthias substituted Marcel de Jong in the 8th minute.
In April 2007, the footballer was first called up to the Polish U-17 team. Then he played the whole game against the Lithuanian team. In March 2011, Matthias was called up to the German U-21, where he played against the Dutch. As of September 2012, the footballer has appeared in five matches for the team.
