Mattia De Sciglio is an Italian footballer who currently plays in defence for powerhouse AC Milan. He was born on 20 October 1992 in Milan, Italy.
Mattia started out his youth career at amateur side Cimiano in 2001, but his real football grooming took place at his hometown AC Milan. Beginning from 2002, he spent 9 decent seasons in the youth system of the club. In 2011, a promising defender was successfully promoted to the first team. He got a first taste of a professional play making a substitute appearance in a UEFA Champions League home 2-0 win over Viktoria Plzeň on 28 September 2011. On 6 May 2011, De Sciglio had a bite at the cherry to play in Milan derby against their archrivals Inter substituting for injured Daniele Bonera.
Mattia De Sciglio was awarded 8 caps for the Italy U-19 team in the 2010/11 campaign. In the 2011/12 season, he earned 5 caps for U-20 team, and won his first call up for the Italy U-21 squad in a friendly match against Scotland in April 2012.
