Mattias Johansson is a defender of AZ. He was born on 16 February 1992 in Jönköping, Sweden.
Johansson’s career took off in local youth club IF Hallby. At the age of 16, the footballer moved to Kalmar and was voted the most talented young player of the team after his first season. In the 2009/2010 season, Mattias joined the main squad of the club and made his senior début on 17 October 2009 in the home match against Göteborg side GAIS. At the beginning of the 2010/2011 season, the defender extended his contract and fired his first goal in the Europa League qualifier versus Bulgarian side Levski Sofia on 5 August 2010.
Johansson made 37 appearances and found the net one time for the Swedish club. In the 2011/2012 season, the player drew the attention of AZ. On 27 January 2012, Mattias penned a contract with the Dutch team till 30 June 2016. The footballer continues to perform for it at the position of a right defender and wears number 2 shirt. Johansson’s début for the new club came on 1 April 2012 in the away game versus Vitesse.
Mattias took part in four fixtures for AZ during his first season and suffered only one loss, but did not manage to get on the scoresheet.
