Mauricio Aníbal Isla was born in 1988 in Buin, Chile. He currently plays for Juventus mostly as a right winger. He can also play as a centre midfielder or as a centre and left back.
A Chilean footballer began his career at the youth system of Universidad Católica and played there until 2007. That year he was selected to represent the Chile national team at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup. There he showed strong performances and soon he penned a five-year contract with Italian Serie A side Udinese.
Isla made hisfirst appearance for Chile in December 2007 in the Coppa Italia match against Palermo. He can perform well in both defense and attack. During five seasons with the club Isla was used as a left and right back, at wing and centre or right midfielder.
In summer 2012, Isla signed for Juventus saying that his dream had become true ‘I have been working for years to get to this point.’ On 19 September, he made his debut for Juve substituting Stephan Lichtsteiner in the Champions League match.
Since 2007 Isla has been called up for the Chile national team.
