Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was born on 23 March 1989 in the city of Hamburg. He is a German footballer of Cameroonian origin.
The player began his youth career in Teutonia 05, where he performed till 2000. Thereafter Eric moved to Altona 93. There he spent three years and after that appeared in the Hamburg Youth Tournament. In 2003, Choupo-Moting transferred to FC St. Pauli, thereafter he made his debut on the pitch as a SV Hamburger player. In the 2006/2007 the footballer was one of the reserve team players.
On 5 May 2007, Eric Maxim signed a professional contract until 2010. At the beginning of February 2008 he extended it for a year. On 1 August 2007, the football player scored a goal in his first match against Juventus FC. Four days later the footballer appeared in a Bundesliga match. Eric made his first appearance in the Championship, coming in as a substitute during the 69th minute against Hannover 96 on 11 August 2007.
In late August 2009 the footballer was given on a loan to FC Nuremberg for one year. On 19 September 2009, Choupo-Moting netted his first goal in his first game for the squad. All-in-all, Eric performed in 25 matches, scoring five goals. In 2011, he undersigned a three-year deal with FSV Mainz 05 on a free transfer. The footballer put it in the back of the net 10 times in 34 matches.
Choupo-Moting began his international career in the German national youth team, scoring many goals. In spite of the success, he decided not to go to the German senior team, accepting the call-up from the Cameroon national team, where the footballer has played 13 matches, netting 5 goals since 2010.
