Maynor Figueroa is a defender of Hull City. He was born on 2 May 1983 in Jutiapa, Honduras.
In 1993 Maynor joined the youth team of Victoria and the academy of the club. The footballer practiced everything he learned performing for his junior squad during six years. Figueroa managed to fully prepare himself for a professional start by 1999.
The same year the defender penned a permanent contract with Victoria. Maynor began to play at the new level with the club, but his appearances were rare. The footballer failed to gain head coach’s confidence, which could give him a regular place in the starting XI.
In 2003 Figueroa moved to Olimpia, where he won the hearts of the entire coaching staff really soon. The player often came on the pitch both as a starting team player and as a sub. From 2003 till 2008, Maynor featured in 100 matches and found the net six times for the club.
In 2008 English side Wigan Athletic sealed a short-term loan deal with the footballer so that to see him in action. Figueroa perfectly fitted the head coach’s criteria and the management decided to secure the defender’s services on permanent basis. In the summer 2008, Maynor officially became a player of ‘Latics’. The footballer became one of the pivots and played 148 matches for the club. After Wigan had left the Premier League Maynor joined newly promoted Hull City in the summer 2013.
From 1999 till 2003, Figueroa took part in 11 games and contributed one goal for the Honduras national U-20 and U-23 squads. From 2003, Maynor was capped 85 times and found the net twice for the full national squad.
