Mehmet Sedef was born on 5 August 1987 in Kilis, Turkey. As a kid he moved with his family to Istanbul. Since childhood he has been keen on football. Mehmet began his youth career in 2000 playing for Beşiktaş J.K.
In 2005 the player was promoted to Beşiktaş senior team. Sedef made his club debut on 28 May 2005 in the match against Akçaabat Sebatspor when he appeared in the major squad and played the full 90 minutes.
For the 2008/09 season a Turkish player was given out on loan to Altay S.K. and in the ensuing season he was loaned to Çaykur Rizespor. With the latter he managed to participate in 13 matches during the 2009/10 season. The 2010/11 season Mehmet spent at Konyaspor. On 25 April 2011 he made his debut in the Süper Lig match against Beşiktaş J.K. which ended in a draw (1-1).
In 2011 Sedef signed for Gençlerbirliği S.K. in a transfer worth €1 million but was released in 2013 and joined Antalyaspor.
