Michael Chopra is a striker, born on 23 December 1983 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
In 1993, Michael joined the academy of Newcastle United and started to perform for the junior squad of the club. In 2000, the footballer reached the last step of the youth system and was ready to perform at the professional level.
In 2000, Chopra penned his first senior contract and began to make occasional appearances for ‘The Magpies’. However, that was not enough for him, and the management decided to send the striker on loan to Watford, where he netted five goals in five matches during six months. From 2004 till 2005, Michael performed on temporary basis at Nottingham Forest and Barnsley and fired 17 goals in 44 fixtures for both clubs during his spells. After returning to his parent Newcastle United, the footballer took his tally to 21 games and one goal for the team by the summer 2006, when he completed a move to Cardiff City.
Chopra amassed 22 goals in 42 matches during one season and sealed a deal with Sunderland, which decided to send the striker back to Cardiff City, this time on temporary basis. Michael found the net 13 times in 27 games for the club during his spell.
In the summer 2009, the management of the Welsh side team decided to secure the footballer’s services on permanent basis and saw him score 28 goals in 73 fixtures during two seasons. In the summer 2011, Chopra put pen to paper of a contract with Ipswich Town and chipped in 18 goals in 78 matches for ‘The Tractor Boys’ before switching for Blackpool in the summer 2013. In 2014 Chopra was released from the club.
