Michal Kadlec is a son of former footballer Miroslav Kadlec. He began to play in SV Alsenborn, but soon moved to the youth team of FC Kaiserslautern, where his father used to perform.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Kadlec returned to the Czech Republic in 1998 and joined 1. FC Slovácko. He made his début at the age of 17 and transferred to Sparta Prague at the beginning of 2005. Michal immediately became the first team player and won the Gambrinus liga with his new club in 2004.
In 2008/2009 Kadlec spent a year in German side Bayer 04 on loan. The same season the footballer made his first appearance for the temporary club in the match against Hamburger SV, where he played only in one half. Michal struggled to clinch the place in the main team and eventually managed to do that. Soon Bayer decided to buy the footballer and signed him till 2013.
Later Kadlec got a minor injury, which, however, ruled him out of football for a couple of months. He soon returned to the club and won his main squad place back.
In 2013 Kadlec completed a move to Fenerbahce.
Michal Kadlec was capped 26 times for the Czech Republic national U-21 team after taking part in the matches at U-18 and U-19 levels. On 17 November 2007, he made a senior start in a 3-1 victory over Slovakia. After that the footballer made another 46 appearances for his national team.
