Michel Breuer is a defender of NEC. He was born on 25 May 1980 in Gouda, Netherlands.
Michel’s youth career took off in Haastrecht, where the footballer started to perform when a child. Several years later, Breuer completed a move to the academy of Olympia, where the player learned football in all its minutest details. Michel’s talent drew the attention of various Eredivisie side clubs, but Excelsior scouts managed to win the defender over to their team and beat off the competition from their rivals. In 1998, the management of the club penned a contract with Breuer, who started to adapt to the senior level by making occasional appearances. From the 2000/2001 season, the player started to come on the pitch more often and netted ten goals in 108 matches for Excelsior till 2004.
In the summer 2004, Heerenveen secured Michel’s services on permanent basis and offered the footballer a regular place in the main team. The management wanted to him to become a pivot and did everything for the rookie to achieve that goal. Breuer became the anchor player in the defensive line of the new club and amassed ten goals in 216 appearances for the club during eight years.
On 6 July 2012, the Dutchman finalized a move to NEC Nijmegen and fired one goal in 12 league and one KNVB Cup fixtures for the new team as of November 2012.
