Michel Morganella is a defender of Italian club Palermo. He was born on 17 May 1989 in Sierre, Switzerland.
Formed in the youth ranks of FC Sion, Michel started out his senior career at a top-flight Swiss club FC Basel. However, due to high competition for the first-team position, he was mostly deployed as a backup player and had only 6 appearances for Basel during a three-year stint.
Despite a lacklustre career start, Morganella was noticed by Sicilian Palermo and in 2009 he moved to Italy to try his luck with the Rosaneri. However, he didn’t manage to bring out his full potential at Palermo, as was never to play in the first team. In the 2009/10 campaign, a young footballer had only two games with the Rosaneri.
From 2010 till 2012, Morganella found himself at Novara and that was the most stunning period in his career as he played 65 matches for the club.
In June 2012, he transferred to Palermo again where he plays as a right back since then.
From 2005 till 2006, Michel Morganella was a regular of the Switzerland national youth team, coming through U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels. He won a full cap for the team in a friendly game against Romania in May 2012.
