Mickaël Landreau is a goalkeeper for Lille OSC. He was born on 14 May 1979 in Machecoul (France).
His youth career developed at FC Nantes academy where a young player studied and performed for the youth team.
During one of the trials the scouts from Nantes made a decision to sign a professional contract with a gifted goalkeeper. From the very start Mickaël established a reputation of a promising talented player. In 1996 he signed his first professional contract. Landreau turned into a kind of a living legend as with each year the number of club matches increased and at the same time developed his skills. The goalkeeper represented the club from 1996 till 2006. Over a decade he made 421 appearances for the club.
In 2006 PSG were looking for a substitute for their first-choice goalkeeper. The player with his enormous experience and indubitable talent perfectly suited the club. Apparently the cost was not the problem for PSG as the matter was settled in short term. In the summer of 2006 Mickaël joined the club on a three-year deal. He played in the position of a first-choice goalkeeper over a period of three seasons until 2009. In three years he featured in 114 club matches.
In the summer of 2009 when he agreed to a contract with French club Lille from Ligue 1. However in the new club his appearance in the major squad becomes more infrequent. The manager tries to give more playing time to younger players but Mickaël’s role within the team is still indispensable. He is not only an experienced player but a superb teacher for the coming generation of goalkeepers. In 2013 he completed what seems to be the last transfer in his career when he joined Bastia.
From 2001 till 2008 he participated in 11 matches for the France national football team. During one of the matches he managed to score 1 goal.
