Miguel Veloso is a midfielder who currently plays for FC Dynamo Kyiv. He was born on 11 May 1986 in Coimbra, Portugal.
He started his youth career at Benfica in 1994, later moving to Pontinha. In 2000, the promising player joined the youth team of Sporting CP. In 2005 Miguel penned a professional contract with the club and was promoted into the first team. However, Veloso was loaned out to Olivais Moscavide in the 2005/2006 season. During his stay at the temporary club he made 28 appearances and scored 7 goals, being a first-team regular at Olivais Moscavide. Following his return to Sporting, Veloso cemented his place in the starting eleven. From 2006 to 2010, he appeared in 98 matches and netted 4 goals for the Lions.
In 2010, Miguel was transferred to Genoa. Veloso was immediately pressed straight into Serie A action, making 49 appearances and scoring 2 goals during his two-year spell at the Italian side.
In the summer of 2012, Miguel Veloso switched to Dynamo Kyiv for a fee of £6.6 million. He is now an essential part of the starting lineup at the Ukrainian club.
From 2006 to 2008, Veloso won 10 international caps for the Portugal U21 team. Since 2006 till September 2012, he made 32 starts for the senior national squad.
