Mike Zonneveld is a former midfielder who retired from NAC in January 2013. He was born on 27 October 1980 in Leiden, Netherlands. Mike is a versatile footballer, who can play at the position of a left back, left winger or a defensive midfielder.
Zonneveld’s career took off in the academy of Ajax, from where he moved to Go Ahead Eagles in 1999. The player penned a two-year contract with the club, but stayed there only during one season. Mike made 18 appearances and found the net two times before sealing a four-year deal with NEC in 2000. The footballer took part in 94 fixtures and scored eight goals for the team during four seasons.
In 2004, Zonneveld completed a move to NAC on a three-year deal and amassed 11 goals in 56 games for the club during his spell. The player was renowned for his unconventional approach and attacking style, which he could easily switch to the defensive one.
PSV Eindhoven took an interest in the promising footballer and decided to secure his services on a three-year deal in 2007. Mike featured in 27 matches and fired two goals for the new club during two years.
However, in 2009, Zonneveld was sent on loan to Groningen, where he became a regular and made 22 appearances during his spell.
In 2010, the footballer decided to move to Cypriot side AEL Limassol and found the net one time in 18 fixtures for the club in the 2010/2011 season.
In 2011, Mike returned to Eredivisie side NAC Breda. He retired in 2013.
