Mikel Labaka Zurriarain is a retired Spanish central defender.
His football career started in the youth ranks of Real Sociedad at the age of 17. In 1999, Mikel signed his first professional contract with the club initially playing for the reserve side. For a three-year stint with the reserves he made a total of 106 appearances. In 2002, Labaka was promoted to the first team of Real Sociedad. He made his La Liga debut against Mallorca on 24 October 2004. The defender spent the next two seasons on loan at Real Unión in the Segunda B division and Ciudad de Murcia in the Segunda.
In August 2011 Labaka was transferred to Rayo Vallecano that had just been promoted to La Liga. The main cause is thought to be a conflict between Labaka and his manager Philippe Montanier who was allegedly over exigent with the player.
In 2013 Labaka retired from professional football.
