Mikel Rico Moreno is a Spanish midfielder playing for Athletic Bilbao. Mikel was born on November 4, 1984 in a Spanish town named Barakaldo. As he moved to Granada he was appointed the number 14.
The first club of the player was Baskonia which he joined in 2002. After that he was transferred to Conquense but at first he was assigned for the B team. When Mikel went through the reserve ranks of the club he was promoted to the main squad for which he made 40 appearances with three goals throughout his only season at the club (2004/05). Midfielder started his following season again with Conquense but already in a status of a player belonging to Polideportivo Ejido because they signed Mikel during the summer transfer window.
The footballer spent another season making 35 appearances with nine goals scored and then he returned to Poli Ejido but another attempt to impress the management of the club was a failure. Thus he was loaned to Huesca for a year. There he spent 39 games having scored six times. After the loan terms expired Mikel returned to Polideportivo again to spend a decent campaign and to earn a move to Granada. During his first season for the club he helped them gain a La Liga promotion through knock-out stage. In total Mikel gained a remarkable record of 44 appearances with two goals. In the season 2011/12 he played 36 games where he scored three goals having been booked three times thus helping Granada survive in La Liga for another season.
In August 2013 Rico was offered a new deal with Athletic Bilbao.
