Miralem Sulejmani is a footballer who was born in Belgrade, Serbia. Sulejmani’s father played football at professional level and it is no surprise that Miralem took his first steps at the age of 7, firstly playing in OFK Beograd and later joining Partizan Belgrade.
After spending a season at the team he moved to the Dutch side Heerenveen where the talented player became one of the major midfielders in the team and made 34 appearances, founding the target 15 times.
In 2008 Ajax paid a sum of €16,3 million for the player, thus breaking the Dutch transfer record. During his first season for the side he secured a place in the senior squad. After making more than 100 appearances and scoring more than 30 goals for the renowned Dutch club Miralem joined Benfica in 2013 on a free transfer.
Miralem Sulejmani made his first appearance in the national side of Serbia on 6 February 2008 in the match against Macedonia.
