Mirel Rădoi was born on 22 March 1981 in Romania. He currently plays as a midfielder for the UAE top-flight club Al-Ain.
Mirel started out his professional career as a goalkeeper at Extensiv Craiova in 1999. In 2000, he joined Steaua București where he spent eight historic years of his career establishing himself as a club’s legend. At Steaua, Rădoi began to play as a defensive midfielder. He impressed already during his debut 2000/01 season with the team helping them to win the double, the Romanian League and Super Cup. It was to his immense credit that Steaua welcomed another two Romanian League titles in two consecutive seasons (the 2004/05 and 2005/06) and the 2006 Romanian Super Cup. Overall, Mirel Rădoi scored 17 goals in 248 appearances in all competitions for the club during his eight-year spell.
In 2009, the Romanian moved to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal to lead them to the Saudi Professional League and Crown Prince Cup victories in his two consecutive seasons at the club. Rădoi netted 20 goals in 85 matches for the club during his spell there.
In the 2011/12 season, he found himself at the UAE Pro-League playing for the league giants Al Ain. That season, Rădoi collected the UAE Pro-League champion title and the UAE Super Cup together with the club and continues to play there today.
Since 2000 till 2010, Mirel Rădoi was awarded 67 caps to the Romania national team. He scored his maiden international goal in a UEFA Euro 2004 qualifier against Luxemburg.
