Egyptian attacking midfielder Mohamed Aboutrika was born on 7 November 1978 in Giza. He began his football grooming at his hometown side Tersana signing a professional contract with the club in 1997. Mohamed established himself as a vital player scoring 91 goals in 142 matches during a seven-year stint at the club.
In 2004, Aboutrika joined Al-Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League and plays for the giant club till today. The 2005/06 season turned to be a historic campaign for the player as he was an instrumental player during the 2006 CAF Champions League scoring a crucial winning goal against CS Sfaxien in the 92nd minute that brought his side the title. Aboutrika scored 18 goals in 21 Premier League matches for the club that season thus helping Al-Ahly to become the winner. For those terrific performances Mohamed was named the Top scorer in the Egyptian League and the Top scorer in the 2006 CAF Champions League. All in all, Aboutrika is a winner of seven Premier League titles with Al-Ahly, two Egyptian Cups and five Egyptian Super Cups. He also collected four CAF Champions League victories and three African Super Cup wins. Mohamed Aboutrika made a total of 101 goals in 226 appearances in all competitions for the club since 2004 till 2011.
Mohamed Aboutrika is a regular international for Egypt since 2001. In the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, he proved decisive in the penalty shootout which brought his side the trophy. During the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, Aboutrika netted a winning goal in the final match against Cameroon bringing Egypt national team their second consecutive title.
