Mohamed Zidan is an Egyptian striker currently playing for Baniyas in the UAE Pro-league. He was born on 11 December 1981 in Port Said, Egypt.
Mohamed started out his professional career with the Danish Superliga side Akademisk Boldklub in 1999 where he played for four years. In 2003, he switched to the league archrivals FC Midtjylland and was honored the Danish Superliga top scorer in the 2004/05 season. Overall, Zidan made a total of 30 goals in 47 appearances for the team for two seasons.
Tanks to his terrific performances in Denmark, the Egyptian became the main target for other top European clubs and in 2005 he moved to the German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. In the 2006/07 campaign, Zidan showed a string of thumping performances scoring 13 goals in 15 matches for Mainz. After a season-long spell at Hamburger SV, a skillful striker signed for Borussia Dortmund for a four-year contract. In January 2012, he returned to Mainz and sparked furor becoming the first player in Bundesliga to score in each of the first six games with the new club. In July 2012, Zidan joined Baniyas in the UAE Pro-League.
Mohamed Zidan is a regular international for Egypt since 2005. He was an instrumental figure for the national team during the 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup Of Nations as he led his side to two victories.
