Mohammed Abu was born on 14 November 1991 in Accra, Ghana.
Mohammed started out his football grooming at his hometown side Sporting Club Accra. In August 2010, he signed his first professional contract with a prominent English side Manchester City. However, the Ghanaian footballer still hasn’t made a single Premier League appearance as he plays on loan at different clubs since then. Thus, Abu made his senior debut with Norwegian top-flight club Strømsgodset. He spent there the 2010/11 season amassing 35 appearances for the side. In January 2012, Mohammed was sent on loan to the German side Eintracht Frankfurt but without playing a single match for the team he returned to Strømsgodset. Abu impressed during the match against Fredrikstad FK as he scored twice in a 3-2 victory. In the first half of the 2012/13 season, Abu found himself on loan at a Spanish side Rayo Vallecano and at the very beginning of 2013 he signed a loan deal with Lorient.
Later on that year Abu was loaned to a Danish side AGF Aarhus. In February 2014 Abu completed a permanent move to a Norwegian side Strömsgodset IF.
Mohammed Abu has been capped for the Ghana national team since 2011.
