João Miguel da Cunha Teixeira, commonly known as Moreno, is a Portuguese midfielder born on 19 August 1981 in Urgezes, Portugal.
João was formed in the youth ranks of Vitória Guimarães in between 1995 and 2000. However, he signed his first professional contract with Felgueiras from the second tier, though a young player didn’t meet with much success there. In 2002, he enjoyed better fortune moving to Caçadores Taipas. Though it was a lower-league club, Moreno was established as a starter there and had an opportunity to bring out his full potential. Having gained some experience, he moved back to Vitória Guimarães and this time got a regular place in the starting lineup. Moreno made a total of 116 appearances for the team in between 2004 and 2010.
In 2010, the Portuguese transferred to England where he signed for Leicester City from the English Championship. In 2012, Moreno returned to Portugal and joined Nacional in the Primeira Liga. One year later he switched for Vitoria Guimaraes.
