Mustafa is a Turkish footballer, born in Akyazı. He started to play football in his boyhood.
In 2005 he joined his first youth club Sakaryaspor. A year later he signed the professional contract with the club. In 2007 he was sent on loan to Sarıyer, where he became a first team member despite his young age. He took part in 15 games and scored 4 goals during the spell. The same year he represented his motherland in the UEFA European U19 Football Championship.
In 2008-2011 period the player continued his development in Gençlerbirliği, taking part in 67 fixtures and scoring 24 times on the way. At the beginning of the 2010/2011 season he suffered a broken leg, being sidelined for almost half a year. Six months later Mustafa scored the winner in the game against İstanbul B.B.
On 27 May 2011 Pektemek signed contract with Beşiktaş. His new club paid 4.000.000 Euro for the young talent, who was given the number 11 shirt.
Mustafa debuted at senior international level in the fixture against Slovakia.
