Nicky Hofs is a Dutch midfielder born on 17 May 1983 in Arnhem, Netherlands.
Nicky began to play football at the age of five and joined youth team Arnhemse. Several years later, the boy drew the attention of Dutch top-flight clubs, because scouts said he had enough potential to become a real football star.
In 1995 Vitesse management agreed Hofs’s move to the academy of the club, where he trained and performed for the youth team. Nicky’s maiden main team appearance came in the 2001/2002 season, and the player found the net two times in 13 matches. In the middle of the 2004/2005 season, Rotterdam side Feyenoord penned a contract with the footballer, who took part in 69 matches and amassed 15 goals during his first spell with Vitesse.
Hofs featured in 13 Eredivisie games for the new club during his first season. His second season was not very fruitful, but the player managed to fire four goals in six fixtures. A knee injury left him without action and prevented him from making progress, which entailed Nicky’s move to Cypriot side AEL Limassol. The footballer made 14 appearances for the club before being bought by his boyhood team Vitesse.
After a short loan spell with Willem II, Hofs joined MASV Arnhem in 2013.
Hofs did not receive a call-up to the 2006 World Cup playoffs, but he was invited to take part in the UEFA U-21 Championship hosted by Portugal. Nicky contributed two goals in the semifinal match and one goal in the finals, as his national squad strolled to the golden medals of the tournament. The footballer took second place on the list of top goalscorers, leaving the first place for his compatriot Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
