Nicolas began his professional career in 1999 when he signed his first contract with Boca Juniors. Burdisso had spent two years with Boca Juniors’s youth system before he began to play in the first team. Nicolas made a promising start in the Argentine club and was frequently included in the first team becoming one of the key defenders in the club in the span of five years. In 2004 the player caught the eye of Inter scouts who showed interest in signing the Argentine defender. Nicolas also pursed another important aim in moving to Italy as Inter helped his daughter to fight leukemia. The defender’s debut match for Inter was in the 2004/05 season and he stayed with the club till 2009. During 5 years he wasn’t the key defender in the team, still being its significant part.
From 2004 till 2009 Burdisso made 93 club appearances, scoring 4 goals.
In 2009 Nicolas was signed by AS Roma and has been playing for the club ever since. During this time Nicolas established himself as a regular first team player with 90 appearances and 5 goals for the club.
