Nicolas N’Koulou is a defender at Marseille. He was born on 27 March 1990 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
The youth career of Nicolas began at a local football academy Kadji Sports Academy that he was attending before moving to France. In 2007 scouts from Monaco noticed the promising defender and offered to move to France and attend the club’s academy. Nicolas accepted the offer; the period from 2007 to 2008 was spent at Monaco football academy where the footballer played for the youth team.
In 2008 the professional career came instead of the youth career. Nicolas was offered to sign a professional contract with the club where he had been training during the previous year. Cameroonian footballer signed a three-year contract. The head coach entrusted the position in the starting lineup to the Cameroonian and let him feature as a substitution. Nicolas played 78 matches for French Monaco during three years.
In 2011 Marseille grew interested in the young Cameroonian who could probably take a position in the first squad at Marseille. After passing the medical and all necessary arrangements the footballer signed a four-year contract with Marseille and officially became the first team player. Nicolas has played 30 matches for the club by now.
In 2008 Nicolas was called up to play for the national U-23 team. The defender has been occasionally invited to the Cameroon national team since 2008.
