Nicolás Pareja plays for Spartak as a central defender. He was born on 19 January 1984 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In his teenage years Nicolás trained at Argentinos Juniors football academy. He was an established part of the junior squad until 2004 when he signed a professional contract with the hometown club. During his spell at Argentinos Juniors the young defender became a regular player and made 53 appearances scoring 2 goals.
In 2006, Pareja changed his registration when he signed for Anderlecht. During his stay at the club Nicolás participated in 51 games and netted a goal. In 2008, he moved to Espanyol for a transfer fee of €4.5 million. There Nicolás played until 2010 and made 58 appearances scoring 3 goals.
In 2010, Pareja caught the eye of Spartak Moscow, which experienced problems in the defense. Nicolás Pareja moved to Spartak for a fee of $10 million and signed a long-term contract with the club. Nowadays Pareja is a mainstay in Spartak’s defense.
In 2008, he was selected for the Argentina national team for the 2008 Summer Olympics when they won the tournament. In 2010, he was called up to the national team for a friendly against Russia.
