Nicolas Penneteau plays at the position of goalkeeper for Valenciennes FC. He was born on 20 February 1981 in the city of Marseilles, France.
The player’s senior career began in 1998 when he signed his first professional contract with SC Bastia from Ligue 2. For the time spent at the club he became an essential member of the team. At first the head coach did not give him much playing time in order to help a young goalkeeper integrate into the new squad and imbibe the atmosphere of professional football. As time passed Nicolas started to show good results, his play became steady and eventually he was awarded the place in the starting lineup. Penneteau was a first-choice goalkeeper at Bastia until 2006.
In 2006 the player received call ups from various French clubs playing in Ligue 1. In the summer of 2006 Valenciennes was getting ready for their Ligue 1 debut and was looking for a reliable goalkeeper for the team. Nicolas received an attractive offer from the club that absolutely suited him. The club quickly settled the matter and in the summer of the same year Penneteau officially joined the major squad. Since 2006 the player has made over 163 total appearances for the French club.
From 2001 till 2003 the goalkeeper represented France on U-20 and U-21 level in 23 matches.
Since 2009 he has been capped 4 times for the Corsica national football team.
