Niels Vorthoren is a Dutch midfielder born on 21 February 1988 in Werkendam, Netherlands.
Niels’s youth career took off in Kozakken Boys, where the footballer trained and represented the youth team of the club in various junior competitions. After several years in the academy, Vorthoren drew the attention of different Dutch squads and was eventually offered to complete a move to Tilburg side Willem II.
In the summer 2007, the midfielder penned a professional two-year contract. Niels was mainly used as a substitute and netted one goal in 32 league fixtures for the club during two years.
In 2009, Vorthoren’s capture became a priority for Den Bosch. The footballer sealed a two-year deal with the team in the summer the same year and was given a regular place in the main squad right after the pre-season training. The midfielder featured in 64 games and amassed 13 goals for the club during two years.
In 2011, Rotterdam side Excelsior secured Niels’s services on a three-year deal. The footballer made 47 appearances for the club and was released in the summer 2013.
