Nikolay Markov is a defender, currently playing for FC Krasnodar. He was born on 20 April 1985 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Nikolay started playing football in his hometown with local team Traktor Tashkent. He made a few appearances for FC Pakhtakor Tashkent in Uzbekistan championship at the beginning of his football career and at the age of 18 joined Rubin Kazan reserves. Markov debuted for the first team on 28 April 2005 in a match against Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. In the 2005/06 season Nikolay scored an impressive 14 goals for the Kazan club and in 2007 Markov joined Metallurg Lipetsk.
In 2008 he had a spell at FC Lukhovitsy, where he made 12 appearances and managed to score 2 goals. In 2008 Lukhovitsy head coach Sergei Tashuyev was invited to become the head coach of the First Division Salyut-Energia Belgorod, and immediately after that he invited Nikolay to the his new club.
In 2009 Tashuyev was appointed the head coach of FC Krasnodar, and once again Markov followed the tactician to his new club. In January 2010 Nikolay signed a contract with Krasnodar and in May 2011 Markov made his Premier League debut.
