Nuri Kazım Şahin (footballer) was born on September 5, 1988 to a Turkish family in Lüdenscheid, Germany.
The future famous midfielder grew up in Meinerzhagen where he played for the local club in 1994-2001. Since 2001 the footballer has practiced in the Borussia Dortmund football academy.
At the age of 17 Nuri played for the Turkey junior national team at the FIFA U17 World Championship. Şahin scored 4 goals which got him the Bronze Ball and Silver Shoe at the tournament. The Turkish was spotted by famous Chelsea F.C., Arsenal F.C. and Manchester United, but Borussia Dortmund did not sell the player and included him in the main squad.
In August 2005, Nuri became the youngest player to make a debut in Bundesliga and in November he became its youngest scorer. The same year Nuri begins to play for the Turkey national team and in the match versus Germany he hit Oliver Kahn’s goal.
In the summer 2007, Nuri was on a one-year loan in the Dutch Feyenoord Rotterdam. Şahin scored 6 goals and won the KNVB Cup together with the team. In a year, the footballer came back to Borussia Dortmund and in 2011 he joined Real Madrid. After short unsuccessful runs with Real Madrid and Liverpool Nuri came back to his home Borussia Dortmund on loan.
