Ognjen Vranješ is a defender, born on 24 October 1989 in Banja Luka, Bosnia.
He began his football career in 2000 at the youth system of local Borac Banja Luka. He played for the club’s youth squad, until being promoted to the senior squad at the age of 17, where he easily adapted and soon successfully competed with more experienced players for a spot in Borac starting lineup. At the age of 18 he regularly featured in the main team. Over two seasons of playing for the team Ognjen made 41 appearances.
In 2009 Vranješ joined legendary Serbian side Red Star Belgrade and made a total of mere 4 appearances. In 2010 season the Belgrade club loaned Ognjen to Napredak Kruševac and then to Sheriff Tiraspol.
In the fall of 2010, as part of Moldovan Sheriff, Vranješ debuted in the Europa League. He attracted scouts from the Russian Premier League and the German Bundesliga and eventually the player joined Russian Premier League side FC Krasnodar. At the end of 2012 he signed a deal with Alania Vladikavkaz.
As the Russian club had financial problems durig 2013/2014 season, the right back moved to a Turkish side Elazigspor in January 2014.
From 2008 to 2010 Ognjen Vranješ won 11 caps and scored 2 goals for Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 team. Since 2010 the defender is called up to the national team.
