Ognjen Vukojević is a Croatian defensive midfielder who plays for Dynamo Kyiv. He was born on 20 December 1983 in Bjelovar, SFR Yugoslavia.
Vukojević started out his youth career at Mladost Ždralovi before joining NK Bjelovar. In 2003 the young footballer moved to Slaven Belupo. From 2003 to 2005, he made 53 appearances and netted 5 goals for the club. He later switched to Belgian club Lierse. However, he didn’t get a regular place in the starting lineup.
In 2006 Ognjen joined Dinamo Zagreb. Vukojević debuted for Dinamo Zagreb in a 3-0 thrashing of Međimurje. During the 2006/2007 season Ognjen became a regular part of the first team, being nicknamed as Dinamo’s Gattuso due to his playing style. During his two-year stay at the club he featured in 66 games and scored 11 goals.
On 26 May 2008, Ognjen penned a five-year deal with Dynamo Kyiv. Vukojević made his debut in the Ukrainian Premier League in the 2-0 victory over Illichivets. His debut UEFA Champions League match was a 1-1 home draw against Arsenal. On 4 October 2008 he fired his maiden goal for Dynamo Kyiv, which was the opener in a 4-0 crushing of Metalist. Ognjen took part in each group match for Dynamo. His club eventually finished third and went on to the UEFA Cup. On 12 March 2009 Vukojević netted his debut European goal in the game against Metalist Kharkiv, which turned out to be the only goal scored in that match. Since 2008 to November 2012, Ognjen registered 123 appearances for Dynamo Kyiv. In the winter he was loaned to Spartak Moscow.
On 16 October 2007, he made his international debut for Croatia in a 3-0 victory over Slovakia, appearing on the pitch as a half-time substitute and notching his first international goal in the third minute of the second half. Vukojević was also selected for Euro 2008, taking part in 2 matches.
