A Spanish footballer Oier Olazábal Paredes performs as a goalkeeper for FC Barcelona. He was born on 14 September 1989 in Irun.
Oier’s junior career passed at the academy of the local club Real Unión. He entered the youth department in 2005 and was groomed there during two years.
In 2007, the goalkeeper was noticed by the scouts from Barcelona. Paredes was invited to trial at club and after passing it, Oier was assigned for the reserve team. In 2008, the goalkeeper made his first appearance for the main squad. That was a home clash with CD Alcoyano. The Olazábal returned to the B team. His La Liga debut took place on 17 May 2009 in a game against RCD Mallorca. Oier’s counted on as on a first-choice player in future. In the 2009/2010 season, he turned into the third-choice keeper, after Albert Jorquera changed the club. Olazábal appeared in 122 matches of the reserves, being used both as a sub and as a player of the starting eleven.
Since 2008 Oier has been occasionally called up to the main Barcelona squad as a third goalie, and became a second choice at the end of 2013/2014 season, when Victor Valdez was ruled out with a cruciate ligament injury.
In 2009, the goalkeeper earned one call for the Spain U-19 team.
