Oleksandr Horyainov was born on 29 June 1975 in Kharkiv. Currently he is featuring as a goalkeeper at Metalist (Kharkiv). He registers the largest number of games played for Metalist.
The footballer attended Metalist sports school. The first coach of the talented child became Valeri Bogdanov. He was called up to the Ukraine national football team in the September 1996. At that time the Ukrainians overtook Georgia by three to one.
In the 90s he was called up to the Ukraine national team but he made his debut at home only on 25 May 2010 in a match against the Lithuania national team. At his age of 34 he became the eldest debutant in the history of the Ukraine national team. He shut the whole game out with four to nil final score; football reporters certainly rated Horyainov’s play high. Besides, Oleksandr recorded the longest whitewash in a series of Ukrainian championships – 943 minutes.
