Oleksandr Hrytsay is a Ukrainian professional footballer currently playing at the position of a central defender for Zorya Luhansk FC. He was born in Chernihiv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union on September 30, 1977.
In 1997 the young footballer was noticed by the coach of of Dnipro Cherkasy FC and Oleksandr Hrytsay’s professional career began. Over two years the defender took part in 70 fixtures and scored 3 goals for the squad.
In 1999 Oleksandr Hrytsay joined Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk FC and stayed there for 8 seasons, till 2010. In March 2000 he made his debut in the Ukrainian Premier League. In total, he netted 4 goals in 194 appearances for the club, participated in a number of European Cups and the final game of the Ukrainian Cup, became a double champion of the Ukrainian Premier League.
In 2009 Oleksandr Hrytsay was loaned to Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih FC and played in 10 matches there. Later in 2009 he went on loan to Arsenal Kyiv FC, where he broke into the first team very soon. In 2010 the boardroom of Arsenal Kyiv FC decided to buy the footballer for two years.
In 2012 Oleksandr Hrytsay signed up with Zorya Luhansk FC and became one the regular players of the team.
In 2007 the defender was invited to perform for the Ukraine National Football Team.
