Oleksandr Yakovenko is a Ukrainian striker for Fiorentina born on 23 June 1987 in Kyiv.
Oleksandr began his football career in 1999 in the youth ranks of Lokomotiv Kiev. In 2003 the player transferred to Metalist Kharkiv where he made only 8 appearances during two years before being transmitted to Belgian side SK Lierse. From 2006 to 2008, Yakovenko had a spell at Racing Genk finishing runner-up in the Belgian 1st Division and lifting the Belgian Cup.
In 2008 he signed a 4-year contract with R.S.C. Anderlecht and soon was loaned out for two seasons to Westerlo. On his return to Anderlecht, Oleksandr had no difficulties in becoming a regular. In 2012 Yakovenko won the Belgian Championship with the club and debuted in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Later the striker went on loan to Oud-Heverlee Leuven.
In 2013 Oleksandr joined the Italian Fiorentina. Later on he was loaned to Malaga.
Starting from 2002 Oleksandr Yakovenko was regularly called up to the Germany national youth teams of all levels. His first senior cap came on 17 May 2010.
Oleksandr‘s father Pavlo Yakovenko is a former Ukrainian footballer and current coach of the Ukraine U-21 football team.
