Oliver Kahn is a German retired footballer, born in 1969. He came though the youth system of his hometown football club Karlsruher SC and graduated in 1987. He began to play for the reserves and on 27 November 1987 made his first team debut in a 4-0 victory over 1. FC Köln. Initially he was the first-choice but then became a starter and proved himself one of the key players. He helped his side to reach the semifinals of UEFA Cup in 1993/94, where they were eliminated by Austria Salzburg.
In 1994 Kahn joined Bayern Munich but shortly after that he picked up an injury which kept him aside for 6 months. Throughout his stay with the club, Bayern Munich won Bundesliga in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008, six seasons they were DFB-Pokal winners. In 1996 they won UEFA Cup and 2001 the team claimed UEFA Champions League title and Intercontinental Cup.
Oliver Kahn retired as a player in 2008. He was called up to play for the Germany national team in 1994 and made his debut on 23 June 1995. He played for the national squad until 2006 and in total made 86 appearances.
