Olivier Giroud is a striker of English side Arsenal. He used to play for French side Montpellier, Grenoble, Istres and Tours. Olivier is also a player of the French national team. In 2010 he was voted the Ligue 2 Player of the Year, in 2011/2012 Giroud became the Top Goalscorer of Ligue 1 and picked up the golden medal of Ligue 1 with Montpellier. He was born on 30 September 1986 in Chambéry, France.
Grenoble was the first professional club in Olivier’s career. On 24 March 2006, he made his debut for the team in the away match in Ligue 2. On 26 February 2007, Giroud scored his first Ligue 2 goal. Olivier was sent on a one-year loan to Ligue 3 club Istres before 2007/2008 season.
According to the results of 2007/2008 season, Grenoble was promoted to Ligue 1, but Olivier was sold to Tours in August 2008, where he continued to perform in Ligue 2. The striker spent two seasons in the club and became the Player of the Year of Ligue 2 in 2009/2010. In the summer 2010 Olivier transferred to Montpellier.
On 29 July 2010, Giroud made his debut for the new team and netted a goal in the 32nd minute, which helped the club to win the game.
On 8 August 2010, Olivier made his Ligue 1 debut in a win over Bordeaux. On 28 August 2010, he contributed his first Ligue 1 goal.
In 2011/2012 the striker made a double and two hat tricks in 14 games.
On 26 June 2012, Giroud transferred to London side Arsenal for about £12 million and signed a long-term contract.
On 3 November 2011, the head coach of the France national time invited the striker to take part in friendly matches against Belgium and the USA.
