A Spanish footballer Oriol Riera Magem was born on 3 July 1986 in Vic, Barcelona.
Riera’s junior career passed at numerous Spanish football academies. The beginning of his playing career started at such clubs as EF Osona, Vic and Espanyol. In 1998, the young striker was drafted into the youth department of Barcelona, where he finished his formation and got ready to perform on a senior level. In 2004, after graduating from the academy, the player was selected for Barcelona reserve team. Oriol spent two years defending the squad. He performed for both C and B teams. The spell was lined with 12 balls racked up in 36 matches for C team and four goals netted in 31 games for the B team.
In 2006, a move to Cultural Leonesa happened. Riera managed to earn the place in the starting eleven very quickly. In total, he appeared 66 times and amassed 14 goals. In the summer 2008, the striker’s contract was bought out by Celta. The player was selected for the club’s B team. He spent two seasons making 64 appearances and scoring 22 balls for the reserves. He also managed to make five appearances for the main squad of Celta during the 2009/2010 season.
The 2010/2011 season would find the striker performing for Córdoba. The spell turned to be very fruitful for Oriol as he displayed a solid performance. He netted seven goals in 37 club’s fixtures. In 2011, a transfer to AD Alcorcón took place. A move turned to be a success, as the footballer immediately established himself as a regular member of the first eleven and started to make very frequent appearances.
Two years later Riera moved to La Liga outfit Osasuna, but did not help the team to stay in the top flight. In the summer 2014 Riera moved to Wigan Athletic.
