Owen Garvan is a midfielder of Crystal Palace. He was born on 29 January 1988 in Dublin, Ireland.
In 1999, Owen came to a trial at the academy of Home Farm and managed to show impressive performance, which earned him a place in the youth system of the club. It took the footballer five years to perfect his workmanship and took his skills to the qualitatively new level.
In 2004, Garvan graduated from the academy and put pen to paper of a professional contract with Ipswich Town, but faced high competition for a place in the starting line-up, which saw him sit on the substitutes’ bench and make occasional appearances. However, the midfielder eventually gained the head coach’s confidence and became the pivot, who netted 13 goals in 163 fixtures for ‘The Tractor Boys’ during six years.
In 2010, Owen completed a move to Crystal Palace, but failed to clinch a regular spot in the starting XI at once. The footballer fired 11 goals in 87 games for ‘The Glaziers’ before being loaned to Millwall for the second part of 2013/2014 season.
From 2007 till 2009, Garvan was capped 16 times and contributed five goals for the Republic of Ireland national U-21 squad.
