Pablo Sebastián Álvarez Valeira is a defender for Catania. He was born on 17 April, 1984 in San Martín, Argentina.
Pablo began his youth career at Argentinos Juniors. In 1999 he was transferred to Boca Juniors, where on 6 July, 2003 he made his senior debut in a match against Rosario Central. In this match Boca Juniors suffered a crushing 2-7 defeat. Pablo won his first Copa Sudamericana champion title in 2004.
In July 2005 Pablo moved to Estudiantes. On 13 December, 2006 Álvarez helped his team to win the Argentine Apertura 2-1 in a match against Boca Juniors. It was Estudiantes’ first trophy for the last 23 years. Pablo made a total of 59 appearances and 2 goals for Estudiantes during a two-year spell.
Together with his former teammate Matias Silvestre, Pablo was transferred to Italian side Calcio Catania in 2008. Unfortunately, there he failed to secure a spot in the starting lineup and had to settle for only 6 appearances in the 2008/09 season.
In January 2009 Álvarez moved on loan to Rosario Central, for which he played 29 matches. A little bit later Catania changed the head coach, who had more confidence in Álvarez. Thus, in the 2009/10 season Pablo played 25 matches in the starting lineup of the team. In January 2012 Pablo was loaned to Zaragoza for half a season, where he made 15 appearances.
In the summer of 2012 Pablo moved back to Catania.
