Francisco ‘Paco’ Montañés Claverías was born in 1986 in Castellón, Spain.
He graduated from FC Barcelona’s youth ranks and after that went on his senior playing career at Barcelona C and B teams. Montañés made his debut for the first team in May 2006 in a 2-3 loss at Sevilla FC. Since 2006 he played for Villarreal CF B and then for Ontinyent CF, the teams of lower division. In 2010, Montañés switched to AD Alcorcón where he was a regular player. During his two years with the club he appeared in 75 matched and scored 16 goals. In July 2012, he signed a four-year contract with Real Zaragoza and made his first appearance in a 0-1 loss at Real Valladolid in August.
In the summer 2014 Montanes moved to Espanyol.
